RENOvation

Here in New England we have a wonderful stock of old houses that each have their own unique character, gained from decades of use, renovation, and adaptation. Of course New Englanders are better known for our thriftiness than our readiness to modernize, and so many of these homes have not been updated to contemporary standards of comfort, health and style.

Here at Alger Brook we love old houses. In many cases they were built by highly skilled craftspeople using materials that were far superior to those found in the lumber yard today, and we feel it is our duty to preserve that craftsmanship and character while making home healthy, comfortable, and resilient. We bring a whole-house approach to renovation, taking into account all of the same systems components that would go into a new home build, such as the building envelope, heating, cooling, and ventilation.

Most of our renovation work consists of whole-house remodels. We typically take the house back to its framing, make repairs and improvements to the structure, then install new mechanicals, insulation, air-tightness, and finishes. We do, however, perform the occasional partial remodel or addition. Please visit the Process page to learn more about how we work.
